Literature Text

Stories of heroes always seem to happen in a distant land, far away from our own, in a time much simpler than ours.  Perhaps this is such a story, and yet, perhaps it's not.  This story is about a young man named Keiji who lived, as you might expect, in a far distant land named Krados.  He lived there with a young girl named Mai in a small house near the beach.  Mai had been walking along the beach, picking up seashells, when she spotted something in the distance.  It was then that she first saw Keiji, swept against the rocks on the shore.  When she rushed over to him, she noticed that he had been badly injured and was near starvation, having only the energy to utter a single word, "Trema", before losing his battle to stay conscious.  Only after she took him home and nursed him back to health was he able to tell his story.  He explained about how he had once been a soldier in the service of the great land of Trema.  He belonged to what was known as the Shindo League, the military's most elite group, charged with the duty of protecting the king and assisting with the missions that were deemed too dangerous for the regular militia to handle.  He rose quickly through the ranks there and was a captain the day everything changed.  He had just returned from a successful mission in Ginya, which was the land to the south.  He had been resting lightly in his barracks when suddenly he heard the raid siren go off.  He ran outside just in time to see a brilliant flash of light illuminate the azure afternoon sky.  Yelling out in pain, he felt his brain grow numb, and blackness swept his field of vision.  When he finally awoke, he was lying in bed with Mai at his side.  Mai, ever vigilant, continued to look after him long after he had regained his strength. Thankful for her hospitality, Keiji vowed to protect her with his very life.  And so, when the day had finally come for him to travel back to Trema, he realized he had little choice but to take Mai, his "little sister", along with him.  This is where our story begins.
well, I was going to hold off and submit this with Chapter 1, but I'm breaking down and giving you a sneak peek of what I'm working on ;)

The story obviously borrows (or at least will borrow) strongly from Japanese fiction and anime (and possibly mythology later on) in case you didn't notice the fact that the names are Japanese. The setting is completely fantasy though; it is not based in the Japan of any time period. Place names are all made up and are definitely not Japanese at all.

With all that said, hope you all enjoy. :)
